Yesterday, May 17, 2012, I and my friends went to Shangri La Plaza, Shang Cineplex to catch the first day of the Asian Society Film Festival. The movie for the opening night is "Dinig Sana Kita" (If I knew what you said), a Filipino movie about a rebel, rocker chick who met a deaf guy and they became friends. Actually before we watched the movie, we went through a lot of obstacles. We came from a meeting, which is being cancelled in our office, then when we arrived in Shang, the line of the movie goers is already closed and we became wait listed. I knew it. A movie with a free admission will catch the attention of many movie goers. Since this is the situation, I'm hoping that the organizers will handle it smoothly but a lot of people, unfortunately, didn't make it to catch the movie because the opening night just use one movie house, with the delegates and move goers in it, so it's really a problem of seats. I thought, we won't be able to catch Dinig Sana Kita, but God make a way, haha, the guard said that there still five available seat, of course, we grab the opportunity. Haha.

“Dinig Sana Kita” is a story of a Deaf Dancer (Romalito Mallari) and a Rock Musician (Zoe Sandejas) who cross paths at a Youth Camp that mixes Deaf and Hearing kids. Their encounter with each other gets off to a rocky start but soon these polar opposites find that they have more in common than the others including a love for music. As the story progresses, we leave the camp behind to focus on their individual lives and how their friendship helps them to cope.

Dinig Sana Kita is just a simple movie, simple plot, even the cinematography is not that extra-ordinary, but what really catch my attention is the story. The movie gets into the hearts of its audience. I am not a "iyakin" kind of a person when it comes to movie watching but I felt the emotions being delivered by the characters. We're not in the same shoes, but I really cried. Hehe.

Zoe Sandejes and Rome Mallari delivered their roles so well, additional credit to Rome because he can really act and dance in spite of his defect. By the way, Rome who plays the deaf guy, is a real deaf. He was born deaf and abandoned by his family. Hehe It's okay Rome I'll be the one to keep you company...LOL haha.. Okay seriously, I really really LOVE  the film. I don't know but I just love it, no more explanations.
